Introduction

I am an integrative relational counsellor working in-person and online from Bristol. My aim is to create a space where you feel compassionately accepted and heard.

I am committed to anti-oppressive practice and have over two years experience working with ethnically diverse clients, along with my own lived experience as a mixed race person. I am passionate about improving access to counselling for minoritised individuals and currently work at Nilaari Agency to help with this.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP 398658) and adhere to their ethical framework.

Location

I work at 29 Orchard St, BS1 5EH. There are three flights of stairs up to the room and toilets on the ground floor. There is on street parking on neighbouring streets, and you are welcome to lock your bike to the railings outside the building.

My Approach

It’s tricky to describe approaches to counselling without getting jargon-heavy. My aim here is to describe how I work in layman’s terms and I am happy to talk with you in more depth about my approach if you wish.

I use a person-centred approach [PCA] as my foundation. This means I believe that each of us has the capacity to grow given the right conditions. Therefore I work to co-create a space with you which facilitates those conditions you need to grow and develop: a warm, empathetic and non-judgemental acceptance of you and your current circumstances.

I believe that the relationship we build is key to the work we do so encourage and welcome feedback. I will also be an active participant in the relationship: being myself with you whilst staying in the boundaries of a professional relationship. I respect everyone I work with as an individual and try my best to avoid making assumptions about you and what might help.

Being an integrative counsellor means that, whilst I work with person-centred underpinnings I also draw on a variety of other models to find a tailored approach that works best for you. Some models of counselling I call upon are psychodynamic (working with your past to understand your present); parts work (viewing the self as made up of multiple parts and communicating with these parts in various ways) and I am also interested in working creatively if you feel that would work for you.
